You are not alone — and Jesus is stronger
Many people quietly carry a sense that something is not right — recurring fear that has no obvious cause, patterns of addiction that scripture-reading and willpower have not broken, generational wounds that keep showing up in the next generation. Scripture has a name for this and a response to it: deliverance prayer. It is not formal exorcism. It is pastoral prayer, grounded in the authority every believer has in the Name of Jesus, that asks the Lord to set the captives free.

Everything he says is tainted with deceit, falsehood, and misrepresentation of the truth. Jesus said this about the devil:
The devil was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks from his own nature, for he is a liar and the father of lies.
— John 8:44
This is one of the many reasons he is such a loser. Jesus, on the other hand, is entirely trustworthy. Jesus always tells the truth. Jesus is the supreme and final authority over all things and all matters — which means Jesus is more powerful than the devil.
Jesus has total authority over Satan, over all demons, over spirits, curses, witchcraft, voodoo, sickness, fear, and death. Jesus has absolute authority over all the power and works of the enemy, and He has now given that authority to us.
The seventy returned with joy, saying, “Lord, even the demons are subject to us through Your name.” He said to them, “I saw Satan as lightning fall from heaven. Look, I give you authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy. And nothing shall by any means hurt you. Nevertheless do not rejoice that the spirits are subject to you, but rather rejoice that your names are written in heaven.”

When we accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior, we receive a mandate to wield total authority over the devil and all of his activity whenever we encounter it. Jesus wants you free, and He has sent us to cast out demons and set the captives free.
The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is upon me, for the Lord has anointed me to bring good news to the poor. He has sent me to comfort the brokenhearted and to proclaim that captives will be released and prisoners will be freed.
— Isaiah 61:1
Satan is more afraid of you than you are of him, because he knows what you are and he sees the power you carry with you. He is just waiting to see whether you know it — and when he sees that we know who we are, he leaves the scene as quickly as possible.
Resist the devil and he will flee from you.
— James 4:6-7
The devil is out to get you, to kill you and destroy you and steal from you everything God has given you. He wants you feeling worthless and unworthy of God. The devil comes “only to kill, steal and destroy,” Jesus said — and you are his target. You matter to the kingdom of God, so the devil wants you out, or at least on the sidelines.
Today is the day you fight back
Jesus has total authority over the devil, and He has given that authority to us. Every Christian is commissioned to destroy and cast down the works of the enemy whenever we encounter them.
He said to them, “Go into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He who believes and is baptized will be saved. But he who does not believe will be condemned. These signs will accompany those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; they will take up serpents; if they drink any deadly thing, it will not hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.”
— Mark 16:15-18
This scripture states that we are commanded to preach the gospel, cast out demons, and heal the sick — and that as we go, we do not need to be afraid of whatever the enemy puts in our path.
Whenever we encounter demons, spells, curses, or whatever else, we have been given the power to break them and to announce that they are null and void and no longer able to function in that situation or in that person’s life. We have the mighty weapon of warfare — the name of Jesus, the name above all names.
We would like to invite you to our deliverance session as we unpack these matters and look to practically apply to your life the victory God has already won for you.
